One of the writers of the Bible says that God has planted eternity in the human heart. Perhaps everyone of us has a need to know and be known by God. We're discovering in the Bible and through our own experience of daily life that God is not an idea, or some impersonal being out there somewhere in the cosmos, but instead: God is active today God is interested in people God is relational
And so, if God has indeed planted eternity in our hearts, then perhaps a life lived with God is the best possible life of all. Moving in God's direction
Another Bible writer wisely said that if we move in God's direction, then God will move in our direction. In fact the Bible is a collection of the stories throughout history showing God taking the first step towards all people. It records the life, death and resurrection of Jesus as perhaps the best glimpse of what God is like: the best example of God reaching out to people. Encounter God
Here at the Vineyard Church we invite you to try out some really practical things that are helpful in encountering God. .
Prayer, a conversation with God (not just talking at God), is a great way to start you own life-long encounter with God. We love to pray with and for people, so if you want some - come on down!
God seems to be really interested in people, and wants to bring healing to the brokenness that we seem to pickup on our own life journeys. If you hang around at the Vineyard for any amount of time you will notice that we do pray for healing, whether physical or emotional. From time to time you will hear joyful stories from people who have been healed of physical or emotional brokenness. At other times you will hear stories of unexpected strength or comfort in the face of life's most difficult challenges.
A natural outcome of an encounter with God is a sense that God is
equipping us all for something bigger, a sense that God is empowering us
to make a real and practical difference in the world around us. Our response to that sense is our worship. Worship is reflecting back to God, with gratefulness in our hearts, the goodness that God has shown us. We also share this goodness with the people around us, through practical demonstrations of love.
